Description

CBAM is a multidisciplinary center that seeks to advance the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses, especially in communities with health disparities. As part of the UCLA Department of Family Medicine, CBAM works at the intersection of academia and community with a focus on treating addictions and preventing the spread of HIV.

Our 3 Signature Services

In keeping with our multidisciplinary identity, CBAM is defined by three signature services: Research, Clinical Services, and Training. Each service informs the other, creating an interconnected web.

To learn about each of our services, visit the navigation bar at the top of the page.

Local, National and Global Perspectives

CBAM has a strong community focus, serving those most in need in our own backyard, Los Angeles County.

We have developed strong relationships with local government and community based organizations to address the needs of low income, high risk, individuals in communities of color and communities with health disparities.

Over the years, we have found that our work in Los Angeles translates across populations throughout the world.

CBAM faculty and staff are active in national networks that shape the direction of addiction research and HIV prevention in the U.S. They also work with teams in South Africa, Vietnam, Australia and other countries around the world.

Mission And Values

The mission of the Center for Behavioral & Addiction Medicine (CBAM) is to advance the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses, especially in communities with healthcare disparities.

We envision a society where every person is able to access the highest quality behavioral health services to reduce substance use, HIV risk, and other behaviors which impair health.

Our core values include Integrity, Scientific Rigor, Teamwork and Service.
