At​ ​The​ ​Fellowship​ ​Center,​ ​we​ ​believe​ ​in​ ​and​ ​embrace​ ​what​ ​is​ ​called​ ​the​ ​“social​ ​model​ ​recovery.” Social​ ​model​ ​recovery​ ​got​ ​its​ ​beginnings​ ​from​ ​the​ ​12-step​ ​program​ ​Alcoholics​ ​Anonymous.​ ​It​ ​is based​ ​on​ ​the​ ​concept​ ​of​ ​mutual​ ​self-help.​ ​The​ ​main​ ​components​ ​are​ ​experiential​ ​learning​ ​in​ ​a social-community​ ​environment​ ​on​ ​a​ ​continuum​ ​of​ ​recovery.​ ​Residents​ ​learn​ ​new,​ ​sober behaviors​ ​by​ ​modeling​ ​the​ ​actions​ ​of​ ​their​ ​sober​ ​peers​ ​and​ ​staff.​ ​With​ ​support​ ​and​ ​counseling, they​ ​gradually​ ​re-learn​ ​how​ ​to​ ​handle​ ​the​ ​daily​ ​challenges​ ​of​ ​life​ ​free​ ​of​ ​alcohol​ ​and​ ​drugs. When​ ​a​ ​resident​ ​leaves​ ​TFC,​ ​he​ ​is​ ​prepared​ ​to​ ​face​ ​life​ ​“in​ ​the​ ​real​ ​world”​ ​sober.
