Description
Reset Summer Camp is a yearly camp designed for teens and young adults who have an internet addiction. They offer a residential digital detox program that normally lasts about 1 month in the summer. This program is ideal for teens who have a gaming addiction, social media addiction, or music and video streaming addiction. Reset Summer Camp’s goal is to provide fun and useful activities to teach their campers about the joys in life aside from the internet. Teens build confidence by learning life skills and participating in 1-on-1 and group therapy. Their staff includes experienced youth-development professionals, clinical interns, registered nurses, and private-practice mental health PhDs. Reset has a family weekend where loved ones come and participate in educational courses together.
When first arriving at Reset Summer Camp, campers go through a 3 week detox of no electronics (aside from approved MP3 players). Then, after the third week, campers start to gain electronic access back by learning how to incorporate it into their lives in a healthy way. Campers at RESET live in college dorms with roommates where they become accountable for themselves and to each other, giving everyone a sense of purpose and mutual regard for community cooperation. Campers enjoy zip-line and high ropes challenge courses, white-water rafting, surfing, wilderness hiking, and archery. When available, campers participate in STEAM activities with hosting professors like physics, theatre, music, art, and sports. To ensure lasting success, Reset offers a personalized aftercare program for their campers where they keep contact to make sure that the skills learned during their time at camp are still being used.
