ISSION STATEMENT
Our mission at Polaris Teen Center is to assist adolescents ages 13 to 17 in the initial phase of addressing and treating a mental disorder that has significantly impaired everyday functioning and has resulted in destructive consequences. During this transitional period, we empower clients and their families to transform their lives by replacing hopelessness, despair and self-destructive behaviors with renewed optimism, confidence and a plan for the future.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Polaris Teen Center is a residential treatment center providing high quality clinical care. Polaris is located on a two-acre estate home in the Tarzana area of Los Angeles. We house a maximum of 12 adolescents at any given time, giving us the unique ability to provide truly customized treatment. Given the complex and sensitive nature of the psychological, biological and/or familial background of our clients, we offer specialized treatment modalities in order to comprehensively treat behavioral, social and emotional difficulties. Each client attends three or more individual sessions a week with a licensed clinician. Each family member attends two family sessions per week with a licensed clinician (in person or phone). Patients also see a board certified adolescent psychiatrist for assessment and medication management as needed. Group therapy is offered multiple times a day and is either topical (healthy relationships, body image, life story), clinically focused (DBT, trauma focused) or experiential in nature (art, creative writing, music, equine therapy). We also offer a weekly family psychoeducation and process group. School is held five days per week led by a credentialed teacher.
