Description
New Directions for Women is a campus that provides on-site detox and residential treatment for women, pregnant women, and women with children. New Directions has over 40 years of experience. Since 1977, over 5,000 women have entered their doors, over 600 children have lived on campus, and 200 babies have been born to mothers completing the program. New Directions for Women offers a comprehensive and gender-specific approach that treats dual-diagnosis, and the program averages about 90 days. They tailor each exclusive treatment plan to the needs of every unique woman and her family. They offer PHP, IOP, and sober living. Residential treatment consists of individual therapy, group therapy, off-site 12-Step meetings, psychodrama, grief and anger management, trauma therapy, family dysfunction therapy, and experiential treatments such as yoga, art therapy, horticultural therapy, and equine therapy. A typical day at New Directions for Women begins at 6 am with breakfast and medication. Women then attend a morning reflection meeting at 7 am and a community meeting at 8 am. That is followed by a group meeting at 9 am and yoga shortly after. The rest of the day frequently varies, but includes off-site 12-Step meetings 6 days a week and a variety of group meetings.
New Directions for Women increased its capacity in 2013 by opening two side-by-side, state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation homes in Costa Mesa, California, one for women and children and another for pregnant women or women without children. The New Directions campus is a sanctuary for women of all ages. Both residents have cozy common areas for relaxing. Additionally, the women-with-children home has a large playroom, which features a seemingly limitless selection of toys and is supervised by a licensed child care worker. Clients can enjoy lush gardens in a safe, peaceful environment. New Directions for Women is accredited by CARF and accepts most private insurance.
