Muir Wood is a world renowned treatment center for teens struggling with mental health, behavioral, and substance abuse issues.They offer residential inpatient treatment for teen boys ages 12–17 in Sonoma County, California and outpatient treatment for boys and girls ages 12–19 in Marin County, California. Muir Wood is a highly individualized and family centric program that serves a maximum of 6 adolescents and their families at any given time. The staff at Muir Wood’s treatment team includes board-certified addiction treatment physicians, psychiatrists, certified counselors, and masters-level adventure therapists. They provide evidence-based treatment and use a holistic approach that extends care beyond their clinical treatment program.
Muir Wood provides strong academic support, family education, counseling, and therapy. The key components of the residential program include a weekly family intensive, comprehensive psychological testing, twice weekly individual therapy, weekly assessment by a board-certified addiction psychiatrist, twice weekly individual family therapy, and an all day adventure therapy program.
The boys campus is located on 10 beautiful acres surrounded by nature in Petaluma, California. Muir wood is only a short 20 minute drive to the beautiful Point Reyes Park. The houses and grounds of the campus are modern, spacious, and comfortable. Clients can enjoy activities on campus such as ping-pong, fuzzball, basketball board games, and sports. Experienced chefs prepare 3 nutritious meals per day. Muir Wood is accredited by the Joint Commission and accepts most private insurance.
