WHAT IS BINGE EATING DISORDER?
Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is common. Symptoms include: compulsive overeating, or consuming abnormal amounts of food; feeling unable to stop and a loss of control. Binge eating episodes are typically classified as occurring on average a minimum of twice per week for a duration of six months. Binge eating disorder also includes: -Eating much more rapidly than normal -Eating until feeling uncomfortably full -Eating when not feeling physically hungry -Eating alone because of feeling embarrassed by how much you’re eating -Feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed or very guilty afterwards
Treatment of Binge Eating Disorder
We have developed a treatment and care plan to help combat Binge Eating Disorder, so you can have a more positive relationship with food, your mind and your body. The program is led by a team including psychotherapists, art Therapists, nutritionist and movement specialists, all of which are highly trained in their area of expertise. We involve your primary physician as well, for additional medical support in assisting you to overcome your disease. First and foremost, we seek to understand the causes behind Binge Eating Disorder. We’ll focus on healing through counseling and care. We may incorporate nutrition, DBT therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-processing trauma therapy (as needed), gentle therapeutic movement, mindfulness and aftercare.
