Description
Foothill AIDS Project’s (FAP) mission is to improve the lives of those affected by HIV through our comprehensive support services. Our organization also aims to prevent HIV infections and AIDS by providing education and outreach programs. Case management can be critical in the effort to live well with HIV. That’s why we make sure our friendly, diverse, and professional staff will work with you to determine what your needs are and find the best ways to help you. With our holistic approach to healthcare, we seek to treat our clients’ mind and body as one, covering the full range of your mental and emotional well-being. We make sure to provide medical support in a comprehensive, caring, and sensitive manner.
FAP was founded in 1987 by a group of concerned residents who were driven to help their friends and loved ones stricken by HIV/AIDS who had nowhere else to turn and could no longer work full-time. In a group member’s living room, this band of Samaritans pooled their own resources to help with buying groceries, rides to the doctor, paying utility bills, and feeding pets.
Our organization’s services supporting PLWH did too. At the start of the epidemic, HIV was considered a death sentence. Services were designed to provide emergency measures to keep people housed, healthy, and comfortable.
Today, with the advances in medication and treatment, people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH) are thriving. FAP’s services focus on HIV as a chronic disease that needs regular and pro-active management, much like diabetes, hypertension, and others.
Foothill AIDS Project (FAP) is dedicated to helping people who live with or are at risk for HIV/AIDS. We focus in supporting People Living With HIV (PLWH) in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, and western Riverside County in California. Our programs and services provide many tools that help in supporting PLWH to live longer, healthier, and more stable lives.
Our goal with our initiatives is to empower clients so they can better manage their own long-term health goals. Through integrated treatment, chronic care management, and stable housing planning, we help PLWH live longer, healthier, and more stable lives. FAP’s mission is to improve the lives of those affected by HIV through comprehensive support services and prevent HIV infections through education and outreach programs.
Our vision is a community with no new HIV infections. We want to create a safe environment where individuals impacted by HIV are achieving health care equity with support services that help them get optimal health and well-being.
FAP is committed to reducing the stigma of HIV/AIDS in our community. Our staff has pledged to fight ignorance, promote education and understanding around HIV/AIDS, and to protect the humanity of our clients and their families. Leslie Evans, Housing Coordinator
