Detox
One of the biggest barriers to getting addiction treatment is knowing that withdrawing from drugs or alcohol can be uncomfortable, and that might make a person feel afraid to get professional help. At Duffy’s Napa Valley Rehab, we understand these concerns, which is why we designed our medically supervised detoxification services to help people safely complete withdrawal with as little discomfort as possible. Patients who participate in the detoxification program at our facility in Calistoga, California, receive round-the-clock support from a highly experienced medical team that specializes in addiction medicine. These experts tailor each person’s detox plan to their specific needs and work closely with them throughout the withdrawal process to ensure that they achieve a successful outcome. As a person completes detox at Duffy’s, they can then begin to transition to residential addiction treatment with us, during which they can delve more deeply into the recovery process.
What to Expect
Before a patient starts the detox program at Duffy’s, we conduct a comprehensive assessment to help us determine whether detox is appropriate for them and what medication and therapies may best support them through withdrawal. While everyone has different needs, most people who take part in our detox program receive a prescription for a medication that can ease drug or alcohol cravings and lessen distressing withdrawal symptoms. Throughout the detox process, the medical team at Duffy’s monitors each patient’s vital signs and comfort level and makes any necessary adjustments to their medication. The length of time a person is in detox varies depending on the substance they were abusing, how long they were abusing it, and other individual factors. Most people take part in the detox program at Duffy’s for about three days, though it can sometimes take up to a week for withdrawal symptoms to fully go away.
Admissions
We recognize how important it is for a person to access detox services as quickly as possible. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so an individual can contact us anytime to complete an initial assessment. During this process, a member of our team will have a conversation with the prospective patient to determine whether Duffy’s is the best fit for their needs. This conversation typically includes questions about a person’s past and present substance use, their medical history, and what they hope to accomplish by participating in the detox program. At the end of this conversation, either the patient will be approved for admission, or we will refer them to a facility that may better meet their needs. If a patient is approved for admission to Duffy’s, we will walk them through the entire process, including verifying insurance benefits, scheduling an admission date, and collecting any necessary paperwork. We ensure that this happens as efficiently as possible so that each person can focus on what’s most important: the recovery process.
